Q: |
What is
Send To Friends, Tell-a-Friend Marketing? |
A: |
Send To Friends is an easy to use, completely customizable service to
allow your visitors to quickly refer your web pages to their
friends/colleagues through email. Your visitors will think that
the referral window is part of your website. This type of service
is also known as word-of-mouth advertising. |
|
|
Q: |
What
is the difference between Send To Friends and other free Tell-A-Friend
Services? |
A: |
In life, there is no free lunch. If a provider of another
Tell-A-Friend product is advertising their service as free, they are
recovering their costs some how. Typically by displaying third
part advertisements in their referral windows or emails. Another
common practice is for them to collect and sell the emails that are
referred through your website. Or Worse, collect and sell your
personal information. The last thing you want is for a visitor to
your site to refer a lot of Spam to their friends, or for you to become
a victim of identity theft because you chose a free Tell-A-Friend
service.
At Send To Friends, we believe that visitors to your website are your
customers, and therefore we make every effort for their information to
be protected, and every effort to allow you to brand the service as a
part of your own website. We will never display any third party ads in your
sites or referral emails, and your customer lists are yours and yours
alone. We protect your identity as well through the use of 128 bit
SSL encryption in all Member areas of this site, and the identity of
Send To Friends is verified and assured to $10,000.00 meaning we are a
reputable company that cares about protecting our customers.

Q: |
Is
it difficult for a Member to cancel their Membership? |
A: |
All of our members have self service access to cancel their Send To
Friends membership at any time:
- If the member has activated their membership through PayPal, they only need to access their PayPal
account and cancel their membership with "Artifex LLC" within
the terms of the Membership Agreement.
- If the member has activated their membership by a direct payment to Artifex LLC through other payment options offered
(such as direct credit card payment), they only need to access their
"My Domain" page inside their
account and select "Cancel Billing" to cancel their membership with "Artifex LLC" within
the terms of the Membership Agreement.
Their Send To Friends
membership will then be deactivated, and they will not be billed for any
further membership payments. It is that simple...
|
|
|
Q: |
How
exactly do I cancel my membership through PayPal within the terms of the
Member Agreement? |
A: |
Canceling your membership at PayPal is easy. Contacting Member
Services is not necessary. The directions are:
- Login to PayPal.
- From your main PayPal account screen click the button that says
"All Activity". This will take you to the screen that
shows all of your PayPal activity.
- Narrow your search criteria to "Subscriptions", and the
time period in which you created your subscription. You will
then see a "Subscription Creation" with "Artifex
LLC" on your membership activation date.
- Click "Details". This will show you the details of
the subscription, and will give you the option to cancel your membership.
- To provide further assistance, we have included a link to "Cancel Billing at PayPal" on the member's "My Domain" page.
This link will take the member to PayPal and attempt to find the subscription with "Artifex LLC" to cancel.

Q: |
Do
I have to install any software for Send To Friends to work? |
A: |
No. You only need to insert a small set of custom HTML code into
your web pages and the service works automatically. |
|
|
Q: |
Do my
visitor leave my site to use Send To Friends? |
A: |
No. A smaller window will appear for your visitor to enter their
referral information, while your site is still completely visible in the
background. |
|
|
Q: |
If
I have several websites, can I use one Send To Friends membership for
all of them? |
A: |
For each membership, you can create as many custom Send To Friends
buttons as you would like within a specified Domain name. Every
page within that Domain could have one or more custom Send To Friends
buttons.
If you have multiple Domain names, you will need to create a separate
account for each, as each membership will only work on one specified
Domain name. |
|
|
Q: |
Can
I use the Send To Friends button on all of my web pages inside my
domain? |
A: |
Yes. You can create as many Send To Friends buttons as you would
like for every web page within your Domain. |
|
|
Q: |
Do
I have to create different code to refer each page of my website? |
A: |
No. A single set of Send To Friends code will work on every page
on your site, and the same code on every page will send referral emails
to the specific page that the visitor clicks. The only reason you
would want to create different code for every page would be to have the
appearance of the button be different on every page, to have a different
bcc email address for every page, to have the Send To Friends window
appear different for every page, to send a different customized
brochure for every page, or to send a different Fixed URL for every
page. Otherwise one set of code works to refer
each page individually. Try it out! Each page on this
website that has the button "Send a Test Message" uses the
exact same Send To Friends Code, but when you click the button on each
page, that specific page is referred. |
|
|
Q: |
Will Send To
Friends work on all websites? |
A: |
Yes. Send to Friends only requires a small set of HTML code to
work, and all websites can process HTML code. |
|
|
Q: |
Can
I use my own text or images for the Send To Friends buttons? |
A: |
Yes. The Send To Friends buttons are completely customizable,
and our custom Code Creator tool will make it easy for you to implement
this option. |
|
|
Q: |
Can
I customize the appearance of the window Send-To-Friends uses to refer
visitors? |
A: |
Yes, The Send To Friends window is completely
customizable. You can brand the window with your own Title text or
Logo image. You can change the colors for the background, the
text, and the borders. Our custom Code Creator tool will make it
easy for you to implement these options. The only thing that is
not customizable is the structure of the referral form. Try out a
few of the links to the "Online Examples" to see what type of
options are available. |
|
|
Q: |
Can
I customize the appearance of the email that visitors will send? |
A: |
If you have a Gold or Platinum Membership, you can send professional
looking HTML formatted emails. The Title bar is customizable with
your custom text or Logo image. Otherwise your visitors will be
sending text based emails. Try out a few of the links to the
"Online Examples" to see what type of options are available. |
|
|
Q: |
Can
I use my own custom subject line and default message in the referral
email? |
A: |
Yes. The email subject line can be entered by you. The
message in the body of the email can be set, but the visitor can change
that text if they wish. However, if the default message is
relevant to the website they will often add to it or leave the default
message. Try out a few of the links to the "Online
Examples" to see what type of options are available. |
|
|
Q: |
What is 128 bit encryption and
why is it important? |
A: |
This is an additional step that Send To Friends offers its members to
ensure that their visitors feel comfortable entering their personal
information to refer your website. You may be familiar with the
small padlock that appears at the bottom of your webpage when you have
entered a secure area. Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption
provides this security by encrypting the communications between your web
browser and the website. 128 bit encryption is the highest level
of commercially available encryption which ensures your visitors
information is secure when they refer your website to friends.
This is one of the many features that sets Send To Friends apart from
the competition. |
|
|
Q: |
Is
there a way to attach additional information about my products/services
to the referral email? |
A: |
If you have Platinum Membership, you can attach custom brochures to
the referral emails. You can send a different custom brochure for
every webpage or even for every Send To Friends button. This is
one of the many features that sets Send To Friends apart from the competition. |
|
|
Q: |
Do
my visitors have to click to request a specific brochure? |
A: |
No. If you have Platinum Membership, a brochure is something
that you specify to be sent inside each email referral. Your
visitors will not even know that they are including a brochure with
their email referral. All you do is create a web page that looks
like a "brochure"/"pamphlet"/"promotional
offer" that you would want to give to each person being
referred. Then you specify the address of that brochure in your
customized Send To Friends code, and automatically when a web page is
referred, that brochure is included in the bottom of the referral
email. The Send To Friends custom Code Creator tools will make it
easy for you to implement these options. This is a powerful
tool, since the people receiving the email will not even have to
click the link to come to your web page to see important information or promotions
that you are offering. Your brochure will already be in the email
that a trusted source already referred to them. Try it out!
Each page on this website that has the button "Send a Test
Message" attaches a brochure to each referral email for Send To
Friends. Send yourself a referral email and check out the brochure
that appears at the bottom of the email. |
|
|
Q: |
Can
I attach different
"brochures"/"pamphlets"/"promotional
offers" for each web page? |
A: |
Yes. If you have Platinum Membership, you can specify a
different brochure for each Send To Friends button that you place in
your web pages. That means you can have as many different brochures sent
as you have web pages. You can have one per page, or specify a single brochure for your entire
site by using one set of code. The Send To Friends custom Code
Creator tools will make it easy for you to implement these options. |

Q: |
I
receive an error that my domain does not match my registered domain. |
A: |
- Please check to make sure that the domain that you have registered
is contained in the domain of the website address that you are
referring. If the registered domain is misspelled, this error
can occur. If there is a misspelling in the registered domain,
change it from your My Account page, and then create a new button.
- If you are using an HTML editor like FrontPage, clicking on the
preview page will also give this error. Send To Friends only
works on your live registered website. Clicking on the preview
page in editing software tries to refer a page residing on your hard
drive. Please upload the page to your registered domain, open a completely new web browser, browse to your website and test from the live web page.

|
Q: |
I updated my code but I am still seeing the old Send To Friends
window. |
A: |
Sometimes
your computer can store a webpage in its memory called
"Cache". Please clear your
cache and retry the button. |
|
|
Q: |
I
entered the code in my HTML but the Send To Friends window doesn't
appear when I click it. |
A: |
Please check to make sure that you have copied and pasted your Send To
Friends code EXACTLY as it is created from the Send To Friends Custom
Code Creator. If you make any changes, including formatting or adding line
breaks (carriage returns) to the code, the code may not work properly.
Please copy and paste the code back into your HTML EXACTLY as it is
created. This should resolve the issue. Every problem of
this type has been caused by formatting/breaks in the Send To Friends
Code. Some HTML editors also reformat the code when uploading
it. This can happen with WYSIWYG HTML editors such as the CitiMax
website service. If you are using one of these services look for
the HTML editor or direct HTML insert option which should eliminate any
formatting from the editor. |

Q: |
The
buttons inside the Custom Code Creator do not appear to be functioning
properly to create the Custom Code. |
A: |
The Send To Friends buttons that refer your web pages have been tested
extensively for web browser compatibility. Every browser tested has been
able to properly react to the Send To Friends referral button on a web
page.
The Send To Friends Custom Code Creator uses Javascript heavily to
make creating custom code as easy as possible for our members. Our
Custom Code Creator uses Javascript to do the thinking to create the
proper custom HTML code. Because of this, Javascript must be
enabled on your browser for the the Custom Code Creator to work
properly. However, some versions of the Netscape browser are not
able to use the Custom Code Creator even when Javascript is enabled
because these versions do not handle Javascript properly. If you
have any issues in using the Custom Code Creator while using a Netscape
browser with Javascript enabled, please login to Send To Friends with
the Internet Explorer browser, and create your Custom Send To Friends
Code using that Browser. A member has never reported a problem
creating their Custom Code while using the Internet Explorer browser.
We have validated that the Custom Code Creator works properly with both
the Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers.

Q: |
Any
suggestions using the service on Blog type websites? |
A: |
Typically Blog type websites have a main entry page that has a number
of summary articles listed down the page by entry date. Also,
there are typically permanent links to the full articles at their own
web addresses that are different from the entry page URL. If you only
want to have referrals sent to your main page, then setting up a Send To
Friends button on the top of the page should be sufficient.
However, if you would like to have a button for each article that sends
a link to the full text of the article, we suggest you use the Fixed URL
feature. If you have a Platinum Membership, you can have the
referral email send a link to a fixed URL in your domain other than the
URL being viewed. With this option, you can create a unique Send
To Friends button for each article and have the fixed URL option set to
have that button refer to the full text of the article. If you are
going to implement the service this way, we suggest you change the text
in the button to something like "refer this article" in stead
of "refer this page" so that people will know that they are
sending a link to a specific article and not your webpage in
general. Of course, you can have a separate button on the page that
refers to your webpage in general.
